On this day in 1998, Snoop Dogg and MC Delmar Arnaud were cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession after an altercation took place backstage at the Universal City comedy club in California.
Dogg was apparently trying to talk to an officer to report that someone had slapped him in the face, the officer claimed he smelled marijuana, and they were taken into custody – frigging crazy! The two were found with less than an ounce of marijuana and were arrested and booked.
In the end, Dogg and Daz pled no contest in Beverly Hills Municipal Court. Snoop received the maximum fine of $100, plus a $170 penalty assessment fee and a $100 payment to the Victim’s Restitution Fund, for a total cost of $370. The amount was paid the same day. Daz was fined $75, plus a $136 penalty assessment fee, for a total cost of $211. The payment to the Victim’s Restitution Fund was not imposed in Daz’s case and was not addressed in court.
