October 11, 2004

On this day in 2004, the Vote for Change tour finished up in Washington, DC., with a concert featuring Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., The Dave Matthews Band, Dixie Chicks and James Taylor. The goal of the tour was to get president George W. Bush voted out of office in the November elections.

The Vote for Change tour was a politically motivated American popular music concert tour that took place during October of 2004. The tour was presented by MoveOn.org to benefit America Coming Together. The tour was held in swing states and was designed to encourage people to register and vote.

Bush won by a narrow (illegal) margin.
