Nominated for: Best Jazz Instrumental
What was the first thing that came to mind when you learned you were nominated? I was excited! It’s great to have positive feedback on my new music.
What will you do if you win? Celebrate! Jump up and down! Tell everyone involved in making the music. And then I’ll tell as many people as I can about it! And say a big THANKS to the TIMA committee.
Why should you win? I think for a contest like this, it comes down to the taste of the judging panel. We would “like” to win because we’ve worked super hard on this new record and it’s recorded with some of the city’s (and country’s) best musicians and a world-class arranger and producer (Shelly Berger). With an award like this, it means our music will reach more people and therefore we’ll have a better chance of inspiring more people with what we’re doing. And that, in the end, is the goal!
If you weren’t nominated, who would you be rooting for? Everyone. 🙂
Other comments? I wish everyone good luck for the contest! And definitely have a listen to our new “Attic Jump” album – it’s a big step up from what we’ve done before and has lots of exciting music. It can show people how jazz can 100% be fun and simple to listen to.
