July11On this day in 1969, the Rolling Stones released ‘Honky Tonk Women’ on Decca Records (U.K.).

Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, the single was produced by Jimmy Miller, and recorded in June of 1969 at Olympic Studios in London, England.

In February of 1969, the band had originally recorded the track in a country fashion and titled it ‘Country Honk’.The song was then rearranged into a track with a rock and roll feel and retitled ‘Honky Tonk Women’.

The single remained on the U.K. charts for five weeks peaking at No.1.
