On stage, she’s a pro: engaging the crowd and commanding attention – even convincing a few members of the audience to c’mon and dance!
She changes small details in her songs to make for an interesting, fun, and upbeat performance. Her jazzy, bluesy, soulful vocals are pure, but she plays with them, pumping up even the midnight crowd at Czehoski on Wednesday night.
Her vocals on ‘Memories’, a song that won her the John Lennon Songwriting competition a few years back, are unwavering. The song demands the strongest vocal strength, and Priya delivers with incredible ease.
‘Run Like Hell’, off Priya’s new EP, Goodbye Romeo, is a fun, upbeat track. It offers dramatic elements – deep backing vocals, quipy lyrics, and that fabulous “big band” sound she’s know for.
‘Make a Move’, which is also off her new EP, is a fierce track. It offers listeners a deeper, darker version of Priya’s retro blues, but with her own sweet attitude superimposed.
