October 13, 1965

October13Today in 1965, The Who recorded ‘My Generation’ at Pye Studios in London.

The song hit No. 2 on the U.K. charts, but was held off of the top spot by The Seekers’ ‘The Carnival is Over’.

Roger Daltrey would later claim that he stuttered the lyrics so that they would fit the music. Because of this, the BBC initially refused to play the song so as to not offend people who stutter.
