Wallace’s debut album Ready To Die was released in 1994, and he instantly became a central figure in the East Coast hip hop scene when, at the time, the West Coast was dominating the mainstream rap movement.
While Wallace was recording his second album, he was heavily involved in the East Coast / West Coast feud and this would, unfortunately, most likely be the reason for his early demise, though it really is unknown to this day and has become something of a conspiracy theory as to what really happened that night.
Sixteen days after his death, his second record (appropriately titled) Life After Death was released and hit No. 1 on the U.S. charts. Two more albums were released post-mortem and he still dominates charts around the world as one of the world’s best MCs.
