On this day in 1973, Paul McCartney plead guilty to charges of growing marijuana outside of his Scottish countryside farm.

He claimed that a fan had given him the seeds and that he did not know what they would grow. He was fined $240.

McCartney has been known to enjoy cannabis and even admits to writing Beatles classics about the drug, naming ‘Got To Get You Into My Life’ as one of the songs he wrote about marijuana.
