On this day in 1976, Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rhiannon’ was released on Fleetwood Mac’s self-titled album.

Lyrics written by Stevie Nicks and guitar by Lindsey Buckingham, the song was and still is one of the greatest songs ever written.

‘Rhiannon’ was voted #488 on The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine. It hit No. 11 on the U.S. singles charts in June 1976 and reached No. 46 on the U.K. singles charts in February 1978., When Nicks performs this song live her vocals climax and it is like watching a women unravel in a trance. Drummer Mick Fleetwood said her performance resembles an exorcism. The song is simply about a Welsh witch, states Miss Nicks.
