March 23, 1961

On this day in 1961, Elvis Presley recorded ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’, one of the most requested love songs to date.

Written by  Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore and George David Weiss, the song’s melody is based on the classical french love song ‘Plaisir d’Amour’, which was written in 1784 by Jean Paul Egide Martini. Presley’s version would appear in his popular 1961 film, Blue Hawaii.
