March10Today in 1979, Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’ reached the No. 1 spot on the U.S. singles chart.

The song, which was already at the top spot in the U.K., was originally released as a B-side to The Righteous Brothers’ ‘Substitute’.

‘I Will Survive’ has since been certified double platinum. It also won the Grammy award for Best Disco Recording, the only year that award was given.
