On this day in 1970, The Kinks lead singer Ray Davies flew all the way from his home in London to New York, so he could re-record a single line from the band’s new single ‘Lola’ after the BBC refused to air the song do to the use of the brand name Coca-Cola.

The song lyrics were changed to: “Where you drink champagne / And it tastes just like cherry-cola.”
