January30Today in 1969, The Beatles played a lunch-time gig on top of the Apple Building in London. It would be their last show.

The performance lasted just longer than 40 minutes, and halted traffic as crowds gathered to watch. The band, joined by Billy Preston, played ‘Get Back’, ‘Don’t Let Me Down’, ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’, ‘The One After 909’, and ‘Dig A Pony’.

John Lennon ended the performance saying, “I’d like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition.”
