High Sunday offers a powerhouse debut EP

It didn’t take long for the Los Angeles-based hip-hop collective to work its way into my heart, and it certainly didn’t take long for the band’s self-titled debut to do the same.

High Sunday EP is a four-song powerhouse that serves to showcase the group’s far-reaching range. It opens with “Wonderland,” the amazing single that got me hooked on the band in the first place – and it doesn’t let up from there.

“LetGo” has more of an electronic vibe, with serious dub-step undertones. It’s your Thursday night pump-track, getting you ready for the weekend.

Meanwhile, “Get There” is a fast-paced slow jam. The song features Jaq Lion, adding a certain loftiness to the track. It feels motivational, in a way.

The album wraps with “Hip Hop Anonymous,” another previously released single. It’s a fun, braggadocio song that also boasts old-school hip-hop flavours, and you can’t go wrong with that.
