Since the moment I hit play, I knew Milk & Bone’s “Poison” was going to be a bit of a nasty bite. The Canadian electric-pop duo, who released their debut album in 2015, has given us a new song – and I absolutely can’t stop listening.
The song pictures a toxic love story where – although the absolute perfect partner has finally come along (the one person that is a smooth-talker and keeps them on their game) – it’s only to the unfortunate downfall that this person is like an addictive drug to them: like poison.
From the get-go, “Poison” sucks you into its core and doesn’t let go until the song comes to an end. The song creates a trance-like vibe and is as if it is completely surrounding your head. The core of the song is about this short but malignant relationship, and the song will really make you see how important it is to realize that people can really be too good to be true. The mix of slow and eerie acoustics with the dark lyrics plays severely into not just the impact of the song, but how easy it is to get caught up in it.
