On this day in 1977, Led Zeppelin broke the attendance record (which they already held) for single-act concert.

76,229 fans showed up to watch them perform in Pontiac, Michigan. The group opened with “Rock and Roll,” and when when they played “Stairway To Heaven,” the entire crowd sang in unison.

The show lasted over three hours, Jimmy Page wore tinsel in his hair and played the violin bow for “Dazed and Confused”.
