January16Today in 1957, the Cavern Club opened in Liverpool, England.

The club opened as a jazz bar, but would later become famous as the place where the Beatles got their start. The group was known as The Silver Beatles when they started their regular lunch-time gigs. They were paid eight pounds a show.
