January 12, 2002

Jan12On this day in 2002, Adam Ant, suffering from manic depression, was arrested after bringing a starter pistol to a London pub and threatening to shoot customers.

Ant pulled out the pistol after customers were poking fun at him for his choice in cowboy/western style of clothing, as well as his constant humming the theme song from the western film, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Ant threw a car alternator through the window of the pub after exiting.

When officers arrived to arrested Ant, they laughed at his claims that he was Adam Ant.

The entertainer by now was quite stocky, wearing glasses and balding.

Ant denied four charges on the grounds of insanity, but later admitted to threatening unlawful violence.
