February 24, 1975

On this day in 1975, Led Zeppelin released their sixth album, Physical Graffiti, in the U.K.

The band decided to release a double record to feature the songs left over from their previous records, Led Zeppelin III, Led Zeppelin IV, and Houses Of The Holy.

The recording sessions for the Physical Graffiti album were disrupted when John Paul Jones proposed quitting the band to become a choirmaster at Winchester Cathedral in England. It turned out that he was exhausted from the group’s demanding tour schedule.
