On this day in 1988, rap group Public Enemy’s sophomore album, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, was released.

Often referred to as one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums of all-time, the record resulted in such PE classics as “Don’t Believe the Hype,” “Night of the Living Baseheads,” and “Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos,” as well as the original version of “Bring the Noise.”
