This Thursday marks American Thanksgiving (and Black Friday, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade – see balloon, pictured), and while most people think of shopping and turduckens, I think of one particular song (hint: it’s No. 2).
And so, a list was born!
Here are the five weirdest holiday songs that I could find. Do others come to mind? Add them to the comments!
5 – Alan Jackson :: “Daddy Please Don’t Get Drunk This Christmas”
This song makes the list only because I can’t believe it actually exists. It’s pretty terrible and, frankly, I’m just not sure what to even think of it…
4 – Rebecca Black :: “Saturday”
Okay, okay – a Saturday isn’t technically a holiday, unless you work a mind-numbing nine-to-five. Plus, I couldn’t resist including the follow-up to the hit tune, “Friday”.
3 – Cadamole :: “A Biologist’s Mother’s Day Song”
I can really only assume this is a gag track, but the nerd in me really loves it.
2 – Nicole Westbrook :: “It’s Thanksgiving”
Yes, this song actually exists. It’s written and produced by the same man behind “Friday” and “Saturday”, and is as corny as you could expect (it inspired this list, after all).
1 – Ramshackle Life :: “The Festivus Song”
Thanks to Ramshackle Life, there’s now a song for the rest of us to go with the holiday. Now get in line for the Airing of Grievances.
