Leave it to Winnipeg’s The Revival to *ahem* revive everything you love about down and dirty ’70s rock and roll.
The band’s newest single – ‘Tell Me What You Know About Love’ – is complete with itching drums, gritty boyish vocals and well-paced electric guitars. It’s got the right amount of pissed off, paired with a sing-along-with-the-windows-down type of high-energy. It’s the perfect road trip jam to start your summer right.
The track is also the first single off the band’s full-length debut, set for release later this year. The song is also the first recorded since the untimely passing of drummer and founding member Alex Danyliuk.
“We went into the studio at a very emotional time,” bassist Jay Jensen told Manitoba Music. “This got a lot more serious around then, and that’s definitely reflected in the music.”
The band said the experience of losing their friend eventually brought them closer together and gave them the fortitude to carry on. The tragedy also had an impact on their new music, which will be darker and more emotional, they said.
