I think I’ve figured Big Data out. The man behind the pixels is a magnifying glass. He takes whatever collaborator he’s working with and makes them even bigger and better than ever before.
You only need to look as far as ‘Get Some Freedom’, the latest single off the soon-to-be released 2.0. The catchy and danceable track, a collaboration with Toronto’s own Dragonette, is electro-rock at its core.
The vocal stylings of Dragonette singer Martina Sorbara are out of this world – they’re peachy and slightly distorted; cute and razor sharp at the same time. The guitar riffs are heavily synthesized, but it still isn’t overdone, somehow.
Big Data mastermind Alan Wilkis had this to say about the track:
“For this song, we envisioned the tech giant as the tyrannical dictator, offering the freedom that technology supposedly affords to his people as a means to control and enslave them.”
Catchy and thought-provoking? That’s pretty damn cool.
