Rain Over St. Ambrose is rocking the indie world with their album, Still Waking Up released this June. Their debut single, ‘Broken Love’ is revving up fans for this release. The Yarmouth natives are no strangers to album-making, having two EPs and a full-length album before this year.
‘Broken Love’ has a thundering folk motif, but the proper seasonings of a rock band. They describe themselves as a “trans-fat rock” band (before you look that up, it doesn’t have an actual meaning). The members are talented, making a haunting vocal melody between male and female voices. Luke Amirault kills it on the drums, but that’s not to denote the guitar skills of Cory Le Blanc and his brother Curt.
I also love the tribal feel to it, with very faint modern synths. This band relies on traditional sounds and doesn’t cop-out to a computer to mix already established sounds for them.
