First thing that came to mind? I was both flattered and surprised! There are so many wonderful musicians and artists in Toronto and it’s amazing to be in such great company.
What will you do if you win? Keep moving forward, hopefully using the attention to do more touring and reach new audiences.
Why should you win? This band has been a major focus of my life for the last 3+ years and I’m not sure that I’ve put as much work into anything as I have the BCG album. The album showcases some really great playing from each of the musicians but, more importantly, it still focuses on this band’s strong group dynamic and never loses sight of the heart of the music.
If you weren’t nominated, who would you be rooting for? I’m in a unique position at this year’s TIMAs because I’m also a member of the Brownman Electryc Trio (another nominee for Best Jazz Instrumental). If the Brad Cheeseman Group wasn’t nominated, I’d be backing Brown 100%!
