Nominated for: Best Adult Contemporary
What was the first thing that came to mind when you learned you were nominated? I’m so stoked! I was also nominated in 2012 and it’s an honour to be recognized in the industry.
What will you do if you win? First, I will do my world-famous “happy dance,” then I might squeal… and then I will be sure to utilize every single opportunity that comes from my award. The prizes are enormously helpful for an indie artist, which will be perfectly timed for me when my new album is ready for release.
Why should you win? I’ve been performing for 15 years; I started really young and have tons of experience touring in Canada and internationally. The music industry has changed a lot, and since becoming a solo artist, I’ve found that focus and determination will take you really far, but recognition and and professional assistance will take you even farther!
If you weren’t nominated, who would you be rooting for? Sarah Smith. Our previous bands used to play together and I’ve known her for a long time. She is an awesome singer, songwriter and one of the hardest-working indie artists I know.
Other comments? Thanks for the interview! My TIMA-nominated song “Living on The Bright Side” will be released as a single early in 2016.
