July 13, 1996

On this day in 1996 a new world record for longest jam session is broken when 2,000 guitarists played Elvis’ ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ for 75 minutes in Nashville at the Riverfront Park.

Chet Atkins and Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter were in attendance.

The previous record was set on May 7, 1994 in Vancouver, Canada when Randy Bachman led over 1,200 guitarist players in a 68 minute performance.
