On this day in 2005, Courtney Love entered plea deals with prosecutors for assault and drug charges. She was forced to take anger management classes, random drug tests, and was sentenced to three years probation.
The original charges against Love stemmed from an April 2004 incident at the home of Love’s ex-boyfriend. At that time, Love reportedly entered her ex’s house where she found another woman sleeping on the sofa. Love allegedly threw a bottle at the woman and threatened her with a flashlight.
In order for the plea deal to stick, Love had to attend anger management counselling, submit to random drug testing, pay a $1,000 fine and attend three Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week.
On September 16 of that year, Love violated her probation and was sentenced to 180 days in a live-in drug treatment centre.
