September 20, 1973

Sept20On this day in 1973, Jim Croce was killed in a plane crash in Louisiana.

After a concert at Prather Coliseum, Croce boarded the Beechcraft E18S. Only an hour after getting off stage, the plane had crashed while taking off from Natchitoches Regional Airport. Five others in his entourage were killed on board.

Croce’s ‘Time In A Bottle’ hit No.1 just weeks after his death.

Jim Croce was 30 years old.
