March25Today in 1983, Motown’s 25th anniversary TV special was taped in Pasadena, Calif.

The television special featured reunions of both The Supremes and The Jackson Five, as well as the debut of Michael Jackson’s infamous moonwalk.

Some 47 million people watched the special when NBC aired it – the largest audience to ever watch a music special on TV.

However, viewers didn’t see one part of the special: Diana Ross pushed Mary Wilson away when she attempted to hug Ross after The Supremes performed ‘Someday We’ll Be Together’.
