July 2, 2005

July2On this day in 2005, Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters and David Gilmour shared the stage again after 24 years for London’s Live 8 concert.

Band members Nick Mason and Rick Wright (who later died in 2008) joined them, making this the last official Pink Floyd concert.

They performed for 24 minutes and played the songs ‘Speak to Me’, ‘Breathe/Breathe (Reprise)’, ‘Money’, ‘Wish You Were Here’ and ‘Comfortably Numb’.

Pink Floyd was the only band not to be verbally introduced to the audience. Instead the house and stage lights were darkened while the introduction to ‘Speak To Me’ was played; on the video screens was an animated version of the heart monitor graphic from the Dark Side of the Moon sleeve.
