January11Today in 1964, the Whisky A Go-Go nightclub opened on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.

The infamous dance club/concert venue quickly became the hotspot hangout for the city’s coolest people. The club was particularly known for its go-go dancers who acted both as dancers and as DJs for the house band, which was led by Johnny Rivers.

The club also hosted the hottest acts, like The Byrds, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, and Led Zeppelin.
