The New York medical examiner determined that Goldstein’s death was an accident caused by an “acute intoxication” from a cocktail of cocaine, oxycodone, Vicodin, Ativan, lorazepam, clonazepam, Xanax, Benadryl and levamisole.
Goldstein had been plagued with drug addiction and depression for years, as well as having past suicide attempts.
His death came nearly a year after Goldstein and friend Travis Barker survived a fatal plane crash that claimed the lives of four others. Goldstein was diagnosed with post-tramautic stress disorder (PTSD) from the crash, and fell into a deep depression when trying to stop taking the pain medication he was prescribed due to the excessive burns he suffered as a result of the crash.
Goldstein was sober for eleven and a half years before the plane crash.
He was 36 years-old.
