September 26, 2003

September26Today in 2003, a report published the riders of various artists.

The report revealed that Limp Bizkit required all lamps in their rooms backstage be dimmable. Mariah Carey requested only bendy straws, as she wouldn’t drink from straight ones.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers asked for a meditation room and aromatherapy candles.

Van Halen, meanwhile, insisted that the celery is trimmed and not peeled. The band also required a bowl of M&Ms with all the brown ones removed. David Lee Roth later stated that this was to test the venue’s attention to detail. He noted that, at one venue in which the brown M&Ms were not removed, the weight requirement in the rider was also neglected. At that venue, the band’s equipment sank through the floor, causing more than $80,000 in damage.
