September20Today in 1970, the Rolling Stones’ Get Yer Ya-Yas Out! started a two-week run at No. 1 in the U.K.

It was recorded live during a performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City in November 1969.

Certified platinum in the U.S., Get Yer Ya-Yas Out! was the first live album to hit the top spot on the charts. Legendary music critic, Lester Bangs said: “I have no doubt that it’s the best rock concert ever put on record.”
