September11Today in 1969, Great White Wonder – what is reputed to be the first bootleg album – hit record stores.

The album contained 25 unofficially released  recordings by Bob Dylan, and was sold for $6.50.

It was released by the new Trademark of Quality label, which would later become known as a bootleg label, releasing several other underground records, such as Jimi Hendrix’s Broadcast, Jefferson Airplane’s Up Against The Wall, Janis Joplin’s Inifinity Blues, John Lennon’s Telecasts, and many, many more.
