Scott Weiland sues former bandmates

newsies-ScottWeilandScott Weiland filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Friday. He’s suing his three former bandmates for $5 million in damages.

Weiland was kicked out of the Stone Temple Pilots in February, a move that he says they had no right to make.

“How do you expel a man from a band that he started, named, sang lead on every song, wrote the lyrics, and was the face of for 20 years, and then try to grab the name and goodwill for yourselves, ” Weiland said in the suit.

“You don’t, but three of the instrumentalists from the band Stone Temple Pilots tried.”

(Ouch, am I right?)

This suit comes just one week after the remaining Pilots sued Weiland to get him to stop using the band’s music in his solo performances. The band, meanwhile, says Weiland was late to concerts and performed poorly – that’s why they ousted him.

Stone Temple Pilots has been performing with new frontman, Chester Bennington.
