This past Friday, Jane’s Party had their official CD release concert for their new album, Hot Noise, at the Cameron House in Toronto. The album was digitally released May 21 and will be in stores today!
Jane’s Party is an indie rock band from Toronto, consisting of Jeff Giles (keys/guitar/vocals), Devon Richardson (bass/vocals), Tom Ionescu (guitar/vocals), and Zach Sutton (drums). Their style of music is vintage pop/rock, resembling artists like The Killers, Arcade Fire, and, dare I say, The Beatles. Their sound is infectious, their lyrics are catchy, and their harmonies are top notch; you’d swear this foursome was born in the ’60s.
The first song on the EP, ‘Palm Reading’, is a dreamy, slower-paced track with some great drum patter and catchy harmonies. The rest of the album follows in the same direction.
‘Till You Got Yours’ is one of the best songs on the album. This track embodies everything that is classic pop rock; it’s upbeat with a fantastic, subtle guitar riff and catchy lyrics. ‘Miles away’ has some bluesy rock tones, while ‘Dutch Blue Sky’ injects a bit of southern twang.
‘Anytime Now’ is definitely an indie pop hit in waiting. This song is upbeat, giving off nothing but good vibes. The album ends off with ‘Seasons’, which has some great keyboards, a heavy guitar riff, and ends the album off on a high note.
Hot Noise should be the sound track to the summer! It gives off that feeling of sitting on a patio with friends on a hot summer day, enjoying a cold one.
The twelve-song EP was recorded at Zeus’ III Eagle Studio with fellow Toronto musician Taylor Knox. Hot Noise is definitely hot, but not noise at all; these guys really know how to create great-sounding music, and are undeniably talented. With multiple national tours under their belts and shows supporting artists such as Matt Mays, Kathleen Edwards, Wintersleep, Zeus and as backing band for the Devin Cuddy Band, Jane’s Party is well on their way to stardom.
