December7Today in 1963, The Beatles’ second album, With The Beatles, started a 21-week run at No. 1 on the U.K. album chart.

The record replaced the band’s first release, Please Please Me, which had been at the top of the charts since its release 30 weeks previously.

The Beatles also appeared on BBC TV’s Juke Box Dury. They judged songs like Elvis Presley’s ‘Kiss Me Quick’, the Swinging Blue Jeans’ ‘The Hippy Hippy Shake’, Paul Anka’s ‘Did You Have a Happy Birthday’, and Gene Vincent’s ‘Where Have You Been All My Life’.
