Born Ruffians recently released another single off of their forthcoming album, Birthmarks. ‘Needle’ is simplistic. Lalonde’s low vocals create a sombre atmosphere at the beginning of the track that quickly ascends into typical Ruffian territory – uproarious, faced paced, and jumpy.
The song picks up towards the end when the band echoes Lalonde’s cries, giving the track more depth and adding an extra element to sing along to. The lyrics relate to being just one among many: “I am just a no one / I’m the same as everyone / Sitting underneath the sun / Head between my knees”; “I belong to no one / a song without an album / Long forgotten maxim spoken to the sea” and make for a perfect anthem to sing along to.
Birthmarks will be released on April 16th through Paper Bag Records. Check out the band’s American and Canadian tour dates here.
