August 30, 1993

August30Today in 1993, Michael Jackson postponed a concert in Singapore, citing ill health.

It was the third time that Jackson postponed his shows in one week. The move sparked gossip that the postponements were actually due to allegations that Jackson had sexually abused a 13-year-old boy in Los Angeles.

Jackson had denied the allegations, and his security consultant claimed the accusations were part of a failed extortion plot. After a  long investigation, Jackson settled out of court with the boy’s family for $22 million.
