IndieAwards 2012 Wrap-Up

IndieWrapUpThere’s a naked guy waring nothing but purple panties, and there’s a bowl full of jelly beans (the good kind) on the table in the corner.

Raz Mataz has died and gone to heaven, even though we are definitely feeling not even half cool enough to be here.

Where we are is backstage at the annual Indie Awards, part of the CMW festivities. We’re rubbing shoulders with organizers, other media, and some of the greatest musicians Canada has to offer.

No matter, fake it ’til you make it, even if that includes mistaking Hall of Fame inductees, Treble Charger, for Spanish guitar player, Pavlo – not the only case of mistaken identity that evening, I might add.

The room is set up like a schmoozers buffet, with the all-powerful Sheepdogs’ table dead centre. But one can hardly see through the sea of awards and matted beards to properly identify the guys.

There is a candy table and the most beautiful mini cakes and sandwiches and pinwheels I have ever seen… I am having a small love affair with petit pastries, instead of the  dangerous babe rockstars for once – how professional.

Game plan: interview everyone!

Check out what we’ve got, readers, and stay tuned for our future festival adventures!
