The Horseshoe has a been a big influence for many Toronto-based bands, one of those being Billy Talent who will occasionally play shows there in between legs of their tours. The last time Billy Talent was at the Horseshoe was July 2010.
Hundreds of fans waited eagerly outside in the rain and cold, hours before the show, hoping to be one of the 350 people allowed inside. Billy Talent did not disappoint.
Not only was the night headlined by such an outstanding performance by Billy Talent, but the lineup was also stacked with extremely talented sets by Dangerband, Biblical, and Indian Handcrafts.
Billy Talent opened with their first single, ‘Viking Death March’, from their newest album, Dead Silence. The crowd erupted into a pit of screaming lyrics and sweat. Along the way, Billy Talent performed past favourites such as ‘Surrender’, ‘Devil in a Midnight Mass’, ‘Devil On My Shoulder’ and many more.
It was very clear that the band members were all having a great time being on stage at the Horseshoe again, constantly spraying water on the audience and taking time in between songs to chat and talk about guitarist, Ian’s birthday.
Ending their set with a three-song encore, the band exited the stage to cries and praise, leaving the audience satisfied and extremely pleased.
